Recent Public Art Projects
As of April
2008, CVA is has a number of exciting public art projects
underway. Here is a summary:
Black Creek
Greenway, located at the intersection of NW Maynard and
Chapel Hill Roads. A Limited Call to Artists was sent in February
and we expect to select and artist for the project in Spring
2008.
Panther Creek Apartments
- CVA provided consulting services that led to the recruitement of artist
Erik Beerbower to create work for public spaces. The project will be completed in Spring 2008
Stone Creek
Village - Windplow by Bev Precious
In November 2007, Cary Visual Art celebrated the installation of
Windplow, a new work by Indianapolis-based artist Bev
Precious. The work, installed at the roundabout near one of the High
House Road entrances to Stone Creek Village, was designed to reflect
a merger of present-day innovation with the agricultural history of
the site. The public art project was financed by Cary Visual Art and
McGinnis Development Group and has been donated to the Town of Cary.
2008 Temporary Outdoor Sculpture Competition and
Exhibition - August 17, 2008 to June 18, 2009 CVA is
launching its first outdoor sculpture competition and exhibition.
Artists from around the nation will be invited to submit their
applications to exhibit their work from Aug. '08 to June '09. Only
ten artists will be selected to exhibit, each receiving a $1,000
honorarium. One grand prize of $5,000 will be awarded. Call CVA for

Walnut Street Park - CVA
collaborated with the Town of Cary in an effort that led
to the recruitment of artist Barbara Grygutis to create designs for
public art to be integrated into Walnut Street Park. The park is
located at the southwest intersection of Walnut Street and Lawrence
Drive and is expected to be completed in the first half of
2008.
West Regional Library - Cary Visual Art is working in conjuction with the Wake County Public Library
System to place artwork at the newly constructed West Regional Library in Cary.
Raleigh artist Thomas Sayre has been chosen to work with community members and
library patrons to create original artwork for the library's courtyard.
