2008 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
August 16, 2008 - June 18 2009
Cary Visual Art hosted ten works of art in our 2008 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition at the Cary, North Carolina Town Hall Campus located at 316 N. Academy Street in the heart of downtown Cary. This opportunity for established and emerging artists to show sculpture in Cary's art-friendly environment provides art buyers reassurance that an expert in the field of sculpture selected this work for craftsmanship and merit.
CVA was honored to have Mr. Hank Foreman, Director and Chief Curator of the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, as our juror for the 2008 Exhibition.
Congratulations to $5,000 grand prizewinner, Mike Roig, for his seventeen-foot-tall steel sculpture, "Air Guitar." In addition to the grand prize, all artists who installed their work for this exhibition will receive a $1,000 honorarium to offset transportation and incidental expenses.
Cary Visual Art, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to bring inspiring art to Cary through public art projects and education programs, established this sculpture event in cooperation with the Town of Cary.
A special thanks to Kim Marchesseault, a local sculptor, photographer, and CVA volunteer (www.kimiam.com) for her beautiful photography contributed to this website for the 2008 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. CVA also wishes to extend our gratitude to Ray Rouse of R.N. Rouse & Co. who generously donated their crane services and man-power to make this Exhibition possible (www.rnrouse.com)
