Temporary Exhibitions
Cary Visual Art's temporary exhibitions bring a broad range of art to the community, exposing viewers to diverse art forms, styles, and materials. Professional and non-professional artists alike have participated in prior exhibitions, in demonstration of the variety of public art approaches that are possible.
In 2007, more than 230,000 people viewed the six-month "Take a Seat" exhibition, an event that involved more than 50 local artists and self-proclaimed non-artists.
Cary Visual Art's 2008 Temporary Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition offers an exciting opportunity for artists from around the country. Ten finalists will be selected to exhibit their works in downtown Cary. The deadline for applications is May 16, 2008. Artists can review guidelines and submit their application online at www.carysculpture.org
Each finalist will receive a $1,000 stipend, and one “Best of Show” prize of $5,000 will be awarded. We are proud to have for our show’s juror Mr. Hank Foreman, Director and Chief Curator of the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University.
