Spring 2018: A Public Art Installation in West Cary.
Artist Christine Bourdette is commissioned to create beautiful interactive sculptures for Carpenter Park. They will be along the pond and paths on the north, east and west west sides.
A natural setting of Carpenter Park; the pond, community garden and adjacent farms inspired concept and story line. Inhabiting parks and lakes; their elegant presence connects imagination to contemplative presence. The transformation of "Ugly Duckling" into grace and beauty (the swan), represents re-invention, renewal and growth. Mirroring transformation of Winter to Spring, sprouting plants, a new West Cary; the swan concept came to life.
Each form surrounds an elliptical free-standing seat, big enough for two nestled inside folded wings. The arch of the swan’s neck is 6’3” high with clearance for children and adults.
The sculptures will be an inviting icon for all to enjoy. CVA is raising funds this year to complete this very special installation for Cary Citizens and their guests. Our goal with your help is One Hundred Hundreds!
